  Saw Dr Cox for the first time today. Not sure what he looks like because he kept his back turned toward me as he scrolled through his computer the entire time I was in the examining room. I had been a patient at Hilltop Family Medicine for 10 years and I am doing very well with the medication I currently use and have used for years. Dr Cox, however, said he wasn't comfortable prescribing the medication and refused to prescribe them for me. The medications aren't pain killers. These meds are for narcolepsy, low testosterone (which he says he doesn't believe in treating because as men get older "their testosterone drops and that's just the way it is" !!!) and vitamin d. Personally, I think he didn't like the fact that he didn't start me on any of the meds I use and it didn't make him feel important enough. My former physician left the practice and I chose Dr Cox as the replacement. The former doctor, John Betancourt, was fabulous. My first visit with Dr Cox is my last one. I asked him why he felt the need to upset the medical regimen I currently have and he said "I don't feel good about it". Dr Cox then wanted to refer me to other doctors. For example, he insisted I go to a sleep specialist. I explained to him that I already see a sleep specialist, and recently saw him, and he said "well, will you let me refer you to my sleep specialist ". I told him "I don't need to see your sleep specialist. I just saw one". At that point Dr Cox became distant and wouldn't directly answer questions I asked. I told him I was disappointed in my time spent with him and his lack of concern for my safety by refusing to renew my prescription for medicine to prevent narcoleptic episodes. I can assure you, he was not concerned. I, also, made him aware that I would not return to him for treatment again and his lack of concern was frightening. Dr Cox got up and walked out of the room without saying a word !!! I actually work in the health care profession and I can say, first hand, Dr Cox behavior today is unlike ANYTHING I have witnessed or heard of. On a scale from 1-10 Dr Cox is a minus 10. Don't waste your time nor money with him !
